Excel chart labels for bars (Excel 2003)

I have the attached chart. I want to make the bars narrower and the text larger. Every time I change the size of the text for the labels on the left i "lose" every other row. I've also tried putting in a line break for the source to the labels and again I lose every other row.

I am trying to make a 600 pixel gif out of this and everytime i shrink it i lose the labels. I don't understand how excel is dealing with these kinds of horizontal bar graphs. Thank you for the help.

You could experiment with a chart on a worksheet next to the list of labels. Hide the labels on the chart.
But it'll take a lot of fiddling to get it right, with such long labels.

A workaround may be to not use a bar, but use a spreadsheet with narrow columns and conditional formatting, create the "look"
