    CHM files without IE

I've often heard the complaint by people who have removed or disabled Internet Explorer, in favour of an alternative web browser, that they can not read CHM (HTML Help) files anymore. xCHM is a cross-platform GPL frontend for CHMLIB. In short, it can read these files using its own frontend. Follow the Download link and locate xchm-1.0-win32.zip, which is the most recent build for the Windows O/S. 1.3MB - simply unzip to a folder.
