Fax Services won't install (XP Pro SP2)

I can't install Fax Services in WinXP SP2 Pro. When I check Fax Services in Add/Remove Windows Components it seems to install up to the 'completing wizard' notification then 'switches' off. When I go back to Add/Remove Windows Components the box is un-checked.
A Fax folder is present in Cocuments and SettingsAll UsersStart MenuProgramsAccessoriesCommunications but is empty.
Fax is not present in Administrative ToolsServices.
I'd be very grateful for help on this.

Is there any error message? You do have a fax modem installed I assume. If so, does it appear to be working correctly in Device Manager?

No error messages. Fax modem is alive and well. No problems in Device Manager.

Re: Fax Services won't install (XP Pro SP2)

Thanks for help. I've now got it sorted. It was me being stupid as there was already a very poor fax program on my PC that I'd had a lot of trouble with. I eventually uninstalled that fax program and then had no problem installing the WinXP Fax Services. The old program was obviously preventing the WinXP Fax from installing.
What annoys me is that there are still people out there who insist on using antique faxes instead of e mails etc!

It never surprises that (in the UK) the Inland Revenue & Customs & Excise Don't use e-mail - their systems are too slow at the moment in any case. Also quite a few banks, let alone using a fax, still send out statements BY POST! Shock horror!
