    System Information Tools

Since Everest home edition from Lavalys is no more (see <post:=539,689>post 539,689</post:>), here are some <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> alternatives listed in no particular order.

    Fresh Diagnose
    PC Wizard 2006
    WinAudit v2.0
SIW - System Information for Windows
    LookInMyPC

This list is far from comprehensive and I am sure other Loungers will add their favourites. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Check out SIW. There is not install required so it may run ok from a USB device.

    Re: System Information Tools

Belarc Advisor is the main one I use, plus the SIW you have listed already. There's another program of this type on my desktops at home, but I've forgotten it!

CPU-Z is very specific to motherboards, CPU and memory, requires no installation.

PS Later, at home - SiSoftware Sandra Lite was the one I was thinking of!

Zave, yes SIW runs straight from a USB pen drive.

    Hi Alan,

The only thing to remember is that since Aida32 is not being actively supported it is likely to either not recognize or incorrectly identify newer processors & motherboards.

    Re: System Information Tools

I don't see this as a really big deal myself. EVEREST Home Edition was not as good as its predecessor, Aida32 3.93/4, which was more functional, didn't install to the registry, and could even be trimmed down to fit on a floppy. Much less bull <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0> in the EULA too. Aida32 is still available for <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>ware download at http://www.hardwareoc.hu/index.php/p/downl...zt-PC-AIDA.html.

    Alan

Edited - try AIDA32 3.94.2 instead - seems more reliable.

    Good point! <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17>... although I'm so far behind the times, a simple DOS 6.0 utility would probably pick up everything OK. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
