Hello,
Try going to View, Toolbars and uncheck the mark next to Web.
HTH.
Pat
thank you. I should have specified i've done that. It pops up again later. I want to turn it off permanently.
Have you searched for and renamed normal.dot to oldnormal.dot. There should be only one, but if more than one rename oldnormal1.dot. I hope that will do it.

Or see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/BanishWebToolbar.htm>http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Macros...WebToolbar.htm</A> if you don't want to wait for the page to be available. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
Looks like the link in my backup page is too old. The link to Pieter Jansen's Add-In is http://users.skynet.be/wordprogramming.be/ .

There are several ways described at - or if needed - <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.kenyonck.addr.com/word/webtoolbar.htm>(older version but should work while web site is down). My favorite is an add-in that lets you turn the web toolbar off, and leave it off, but also allows you to turn it back on if you discover you need it.
Hope this helps. (edited 6-28 to correct links in signature)

Hi,
Nope, that won't do it. This isn't a bug, it's a FEATURE. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
It is designed to pop up whenever the user clicks on a link -- any link including table of contents and cross-reference links! If it only popped up when someone was using Word to browse Internet pages it would be OK.
The only way to get rid of it is using VBA. See <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=wrd&Number=48222&page=& view=&sb=&o=&vc=1#Post48222> my other post</A> on that.
