Basic Shape & Conditional formating (2003)

I have a number of basis shapes containing cell references to cell with conditional formatting - I can get the reference cell value but not the conditional formatting

Is there some way to apply the conditional formatting of a cell to the basic shape referencing it?

Conditional formatting applies only to cells, not to shapes.
You could write code in the Worksheet_Change event or Worksheet_Calculate event (depending on how the value of the cell gets changed) to format the shapes.
Or you could copy the cell to the clipboard, then hold down the Shift key while clicking on the Edit menu. It'll have an option Paste Picture Link. This will result in a resizable rectangle that shows both the value and the formatting of the cell. You can also use the Camera tool for this (the Camera tool is a toolbar button available in the Tools category when you customize your toolbars)

Tried your suggestion which works fine as long as the cell does not recalculate.

I've attached a sample of what I'm trying to achieve if you or any other Longers have any suggestions

I would create the summary using ordinary cells with formulas. You can then apply conditional formatting.
The Camera tool option will work too, but it may not look exactly the way you want - see attached version.
