    Print Preview and Graphics

    I am using Word 2000 SR-1.
I have created a document and used Text Boxes to copy/paste some Power Point slides into the text boxes. I also have created a Table of Contents using words Index & Tables.
In the Print Layout view I can see everything just fine. When I switch to the Print Preview mode, All I see are the {field code} for the items I copied and pasted. For the PPT slides it says {Embedded Powerpoint slide 8}. For the Table of Contents it says {TOC .....}.

When I print, it also just prints out the field codes.

I thought it might be system resources, so I shut down the machine, but the same thing happened.

To make it more interesting, we have a company help team and I e-mailed the document to them, they could see all the graphics just fine in the Print Preview mode.

I can see a few .jpg files I inserted into the text boxes.

I also tried Updating the field codes, but to no avail.

I know it's something simple, but I can't figure it out. Thx in advance for your help.

Uh oh, perhaps you need only to press Alt-F9 while you are in the print preview. Alt-F9 toggles between displaying the field codes and displaying the result.

Thx, that did it. I feel so foolish I didn't think of it. Sometimes you eed another mind on the case.

    Re: Print Preview and Graphics

Sorry to bother again, but I can see the graphics when I use "Alt + F9" in Print Preview now, but when I print, the same codes show up in the printed version for the Table of Contents and text boxes with the slides in them.

I made sure the Update Fields box was checked in the printer tab, but to no avail.

Make sure the toggle displays results in every view!

Go to Tools/Options and click on Print tab
Under Include with document, Field Codes should not be checked.
Drawing Objects is usually the only box checked in this area.

Thanks Bob. A fresh set of eyes on the problem is always useful.
