URL in email wont take me to the page (IE 6)

When I receive emails with a URL, I click on the URL and nothing happens.

What email client are you using?
If Outlook, try <!post=Hyperlinks in mail don't work any more,365927>Hyperlinks in mail don't work any more<!/post>

Have tried all those links and done all that was suggested and it still does not work.

I can copy the url into the address bar of IE6 and it works from there but will not work from Outlook 2003.

Have you had it working with Outlook 2003 at any stage?

Can you send an email to yourself using Plain Text formatting and get it to work on the received email?

Long shot, but try this tip from Slipstick.

    Patt,
Most common cure for this is:
    click Start>Run. Type in

<big>regsvr32 urlmon.dll </big> then OK to register this url in IE6. note the space between 32 and urlmon.

    Still NG?

Yes I have had it working on Outlook 2003.

I sent an email to myself with a copied URL (which would not work in the email it originally came from) and when I receive the email and click on the pasted URL, that works fine. It just doesn't work in the original email.

The tip from Slipstick does not apply here.

    Hi Bob
I have done all that and it still happens.
In my other post to Leif I mentioned I copied the URL to an email I sent to myself and when I click on that received email it worked. I go back to the original email and I click on that and it still doesn't work??????

Does it matter whether the message is in Plain Text, HTML, or Rich Text format? In HTML, the link's destination address may differ from the displayed address. If you right-click and use View Source, is there any obvious problem with the link's href= address? (searching for some unique text in the displayed address is the fastest way to get to the link).

    Pat,
A long shot but worth a look.
In OE>tools>options>security, un-tick the lower box as shown?

    I don't have OE (I assume that's Outlook Express).

Re: URL in email wont take me to the page (IE 6)

    The URL is :
    <http://vertfoc.headoftheclassnetworks.org/vtfcid.aspx?id=494305>
with the http ... 305 in blue.

I did notice that when I hovered the mouse over the URL in the email that I sent to myself with this URL that it showed exactly the same address. However when I hover the mouse over the original email's URL it does not show anything. Does that mean the original email is in Plain Text format as you say?

Re: URL in email wont take me to the page (IE 6)

Bob, Leif and Jefferson, I have just noticed that the original has a message at the top of the email saying it has been converted to Plain Text, I presume that this is the problem.

I am sorry for wasting your time.
