    Remote application deployment

We have over 800 Intermec 700 Color computers out in the field running a legacy VB application. These units communicate through a multi-dock to a local server via a legacy (not ours unfortunately) application. They don't use ActiveSynch.

Is there a way to remotely install software without using ActiveSynch? I want to be able to push new versions of our software to each device without physically having access to the device. i.e. When the salesman inserts his HHC into the dock and selects the 'Communiacte' menu option, I want the HHC itself the check if a new version of the software is available and upgrade itself automatically.

As usual, all help will be gratefully accepted.

    Regards,
    Kevin Bell

    Re: Remote application deployment

Unless there is a programming hook built into the base OS, I don't think it's possible. Corporate deployment options for most handhelds are sorely lacking. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

Thanks Mark. I suspected as much. Looks like an oportunity for some entrepreneurial fellow.
