    It's not working that way for me. I have to hover over the hyperlink text befor the hand appears. I get the same results with Firefox. IE and Opera.

    Hi John

    I haven't explained it carefully enough. The attached picture shows the cursor having changed to a hand even though the cursor is way out to the right, past the end of the text. If they had hyperlinked the text ("Links, news & contacts"), the hyperlink would only be active to over the text. So they must have done something else.

    Understand? (I find it a bit difficult to describe.)

    OK - I see what you mean now. This is a java script generated menu. If you "View.Source" or "Edit with Microsoft Front Page", you should be able to see the source code.

    Hi Dale

    This is quite an old post but I just came across it. The simple way to create a hand when hovering over a link is to use css. The style that is required is this:

    <style>
    a:hover{cursor:hand;}
    </style>

    Oh please make it work in Firefox. <img src=/S/please.gif border=0 alt=please width=31 height=23> <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

    (that would require stacking cursorointer; and cursor:hand; -- but I can never remember the proper sequence)

    It would take me a while to find it, but someone told me once: if you "stack" two assignments to the same property one after the other, the standards-compliant browser will use of them and the non-compliant browser will use the other. It is a programmed behavior based on what they know, what they prefer, I just can't remember now. Anyway, it's one of these:

    cursorointer; cursor:hand;
    cursor:hand; cursorointer;

    I think one of the places this might arise is with .cur files, recognized by IE but not Mozilla-based browsers. But it's a vague memory...

    Hi Jeff

    Right cross referenced this on three CSS sites now and it appears the correct order is:

    td {cursorointer;cursor:hand;}

    Compliant browsers pick up pointer and move on without error. [phew] <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Hyperlink whole line or cell

    Whoops my oversight.

    I can get this to work for IE6 and Fire Fox if I use

    td {cursorointer;}

    However, if I am using <IE 6 then there is a hack

    td {cursor: pointer; cursor: hand;}

    As you know I am a bit of a purest <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15> and can tell you now
    that the CSS will not validate via W3C <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15> Sooooooo.

    Otherwise you can use good old fashioned User Agent Detection as so in the HTML file:

    < !--[if IE lte 6]>
    <style type="text/css">
    td {cursor:hand;}
    <style>
    < ![endif]-->

    <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17>I have made it prior to IE 6 as I know it works with pointer
