Unable to connect after a short inactive time (HP D530, XPpro, IE6)

When I close Internet explorer and walk away for 1-8 hours then return I am unable to connect. HP installed a new system board yesterday and I am still having the problem. HP told me I need a static IP address. My ISP will not give me a static IP address, they say dynamic IP addresses work well for most. I have CA etrust EZ firewall, when I leave it disabled I still have the problem. My power options are set to never turn off. Can any one help?

    Thanks, Dave

Do you have a router? Does the system go into Hibernation or Standby? In your Device Manager check the power options for the Network Card and make sure that you do NOT allow Windows to turn the card off.

    Joe,
I do not have a router. the system does not go into stand by or Hibernation, the system is always on. In device manager for the network card, windows is not allowed to turn off the device. Last night I tried a different firewall and 7 hours later I was able to connect without re-starting. I hope the new firewall solves the problem.

I'll let you know, Thanks for the help.
