xp win98 yes/no

Some Gigabyte boards dont support win 98 anymore.
Their answer on why this is :

This model DOES NOT support Win9X / ME due to some chipset vendors has stopped providing Win9X / ME drivers.

but is it right so? And can it be done running win98 never the less?
I there a special and clever mind on the forum.

All that really means is that the vendor doesn't want to hear about any problems you have installing a Win9x variant. You can probably get Win9x up and running, but if you encounter problems you're going to be on your own. With the help of the Lounge, of course.

Jan,
Why not just upgrade to a newer, better faster MB?
A decent MB is rather inexpensive these days. Go to WinXP and enjoy the benefits of modern computing.

Re: xp win98 yes/no

Hello loungers,

your answers seem to confirm my suspicion that in fact win98 and a mbo-driver chipset -connection could be farfetched. So I could probably install a dual-boot after all. To the suggestion to get a better mbo. I thought that was a fairly middle class mbo available these days.
Anyways my the strange connection chipset and win98 drivers seems not that real as presented.

Thanks.

Jan,
Perhaps I should modify that MB statement, since I don't know just what board that you have.

Maybe just an upgrade to WInXP would be the answer?

Jan,
OK, good.
The way I read it back to myself, I was saying replace both the MB the OS.
Just so we are on the same page here.
