    Contacts vs. Address Book (2003 / 11.0 (?))

I spent a lot of time entering information into my Contacts, only to find that it is not also in my Address Book (MAJOR disappointment!) Isn't this an automatic thing, or do I need to enter into Address Book and specify that I want the information to appear in the Contacts? Color me "Clueless!"

Right-click the Contacts folder, and select Properties from the popup menu.
Activate the Outlook Address Book tab.
Tick the check box "Show this folder as an e-mail address book".
    Click OK.

    Re: Contacts vs. Address Book (2003 / 11.0 (?))

Thanks, HansV. I did what you told me, and I still get only a partial list of addresses compared to what I have. I tried renaming "Contacts" to "Contacts_ALL" to see if I could get two lists, but that didn't work, either. I have 2 separate lists, for some reason, and I don't know how to make them merge into one. Very strange. I recently updated to Outlook 2003, and all my records were lost for awhile. The IT guy finally found them, but then I ended up with 2 sets of personal folders, and I had to move old information up into the new folders. I'm wondering if this had something to do with my situation. It's almost as if I can't get to the Address book anymore to update it with my current contacts info. Any other suggestions/ideas are welcome!

If you apply Hans' advice to each Contacts Folder which you want as an Address Book, you should see them all in your Address Book dialog. However, if there is no reason to keep them separate, consolidating your folders into one will make future maintenance easier. You should easily be able to copy them all from one to the other in a single operation (see <post#=539283>post 539283</post#>), then delete the unwanted Folder, and retain the remaining Contacts Folder that is the Address Book.

Thank you! I went into the Contacts Properties, and found that the box was already checked, just like in HansV's picture above. Part of the problem, I think is that the left side of my screen in Outlook looks like this since I upgraded and all my e-mails were lost. One of our IT guys found where they were backed up, but this is what happened when he restored them:
    Personal Folders
    Deleted Items
    Drafts
    Infected
    Junk E-Mail
    Outbox
    Sent Items
    Spam
    Search Folders
    Archive Folders

    Deleted Items
    Drafts
    Infected
    Junk E-Mail
    Outbox
    Sent Items
    Spam
    Search Folders

I had to move all my old mail up above into the top folders, and when I did that, I couldn't delete any of the duplicate folders. (The IT guy who helped find my e-mail took one look at it, and that's the last I've seen of him!) So, if you have any suggestions on how to remedy this little e-dilemma, I'd be most appreciative!

It'sa but hard to tell - could you post a shrunken PNG graphic showing the same Folder list?

Sorry - see <!post=Star Post 270762,270762>Star Post 270762<!/post>. You can do all of those steps in Windows XP native Paint application, without the need for another program (I do), unless you need to shrink the pic.

    Thanks, Hans!

Your graphic showed me what I needed to do to make an Address Book which was in a Public Folder appear in the correct place!
