    PCL and PS font list

My new HP 1320 printer lists numerous PCL fonts as "Internal Scalable Typefaces and Bitmapped Fonts," and also lists PS fonts (which I assume are also internal to the printer). How do I get these PCL and PS fonts to show in Windows (and therefore use them in applications)? Running XP SP2, Office 2003, all up to date. I've installed the printer but they don't show in the fonts folder or in Word's font list. I assume printing would be faster by using fonts internal to the printer. <img src=/S/question.gif border=0 alt=question width=15 height=15>

You'll need a special font viewing application to retrieve your printer's built-in fonts. A quick search turned up CFont Pro as one possibility.

Printing won't be any faster using internal printer fonts. It will be more accurate to the original, since the computer will not have to render typefaces and send information to the printer via PCL or PostScript (since your printer is an HP model it would be sent in PCL).
