    Connecting to MSDE (2003)

I have SQL Desktop engine (Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 Build 2600: Service Pack 2) setup on a test Windows XP pro workstation running an Access application. Locally everything runs fine. I would like to connect another user to the application but keep getting an SQL Server login failure when attempting to connect via ODBC. Locally I can connect using the user account I am trying to use remotely. For that matter I cannot connect using any user or sa account from another machine. I can ping by IP or name. Firewall is disabled. I also cannot register the server from any remote instance of enterprise manager. I read that DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS may be causing this. Is there a way to test for the value of this? Is there anything else I can check that might be preventing the connection? Thank you for any help! -Scott
