    Resource Consumption (2000-SP3)

    All,

I have a puzzler. When I logged on to our home system this morning, I saw that CPU utilization was maxed out (Task Manager app) and Kernal times are at about 50%. When I clicked on the Processes tab, the culprit appears to be Outlook. If I close Outlook, the resource usage drops to near zero. Upon reopening Outlook, the CPU and Kernal times resume their high usage after about 20 seconds or so.

This was not occuring last night. Something has changed over night (the computer stays on 24/7). I have deleted all of the junk emails that came in overnight and purged the "deleted" folder. I have rebooted. The behaviour continues.

    Any thoughts?

    TIA, Douglas

There is a mention of high CPU usage in relation to reminders, with a post-SP3 fix: Download details: Outlook 2000 Update: December 18, 2002.

    Hans,

Thanks for the link. I applied the update and it appears to have done the trick.

    Sure appreciate it.
