pagebreak line on all sheets (Excel 2003)

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone other than me is seeing this weirdness. Why is it that the pesky pagebreak dotted vertical line appears on ALL sheets in my workbook when I print? Even if I ended up canceling the print job. It's just annoying to have to go to Tools/Options and uncheck the 'show page breaks' box for each and every sheet after I print something. Today, it actually appeared when I printed a PowerPoint document when Excel was open! How weird is that?! I even duplicated that phenomenon just now by creating a new empty workbook, then opened a PPT file, did a print and sure enough, that new Excel workbook had the dashed page break line on each of its 3 sheets.

Is there some global thingy to turn this off? It's nuts that it affects Excel even when I'm not printing an Excel workbook. It's bad enough that I have to remove page breaks from each and every page when I do print a workbook, but to do it again even when I'm printing something else?

I cannot reproduce this behavior (page breaks appearing in Excel when printing from another application) in Excel 2002 SP-3, but why do the page breaks bother you? It can be quite useful to know where the automatic page breaks fall, so that you can adjust the contents the best way for printing. Microsoft even introduced a Page Break view.

By the way, automatic page breaks disappear when you close the workbook.

hmm, ok it's just me then I have xl2003 SP1 and it bothers me because after I print something I don't want to keep looking at the vertical lines on my beautifully designed worksheets I can see if they're there in print preview but after I'm done printing, they're not needed anymore. Also, if MS insists on putting them on the sheet, why all sheets even if I just print one? I know this isn't a question that can be answered... just venting.

In other workbooks I've had to add code to remove this line after printing but this workbook doesn't have code (and I don't want to add it).

Thnx,
Deb
