Word does not open template correctly (2003)

When I open a blank document [normal.dot] or from one of my templates, Word recently changed so that the document does not open correctly. However, if I open the Header and Footer [View|Header and Footer] and then close the header/footer tool bar, the document is formated correctly. Did I trigger a switch somewhere?

How does it not open correctly? You may be referring to the "white space" at the top and bottom of each page. If you place your cursor at the very top or bottom of a page, it should turn into a vertical double arrow. If you left click, this white space will either appear or disappear, depending on its current state.

Thank you, the cursor you mentioned appears above or below the page in the grey area, and clicking it did the trick. Again many thanks
