    Access 2003 convert screen (2003)

I just recently got Access 2003. When I open a Access 2000 database, it doesn't come up and ask me to convert to 2003 or just open the database. That is the way it should be but another person in my department went from Access 2000 to 2003 and he gets the screen to convert or open the 2000 databases. How do we get this screen to go away?

Are you sure this happens for Access 2000 format databases? Access 2003 can work with Access 2000 format databases without conversion. The dialog should only be displayed for databases in Access 97 format (or earlier).

He has Access 2003 and when he opens Access 2000 databases, he gets the dialog box asking him if he wants to convert or just open. I know the databases he is opening are 2000 because I created the databases in Access 2000. He does not have access to any 97 databases.

According to Microsoft, this should only happen for databases created in Access 2000 that contain Data Access Pages, since Access 2003 uses a newer version of the Office Web Components than Access 2000. Such databases must be converted for Access 2003 to work with them. There shouldn't be a prompt for ordinary Access 2000 databases. If your colleague does get a prompt for ordinary databases, I cannot explain it, it doesn't make sense.
