    User defined chart (2002)

When I try to save a user defined chart I get the following message:
"Microsoft Excel cannot save the user-defined chart because the chart gallery file is currently in use or does not exist. Click OK, and then change the gallery file name or location before you save."
Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it?

Do you have more than one version of MS Office installed?

I don't have more than one version of office installed. I'm having the problem with my laptop at work. which was a Windows 2000/ Office 2000 machine until it was upgraded earlier this year to Windows XP/ Office XP. All software was reinstalled from scratch.

How are you trying to save the UDChart? Are you using the Chart Type dialog and "ADDING" the chart to the list?

Yes, I am using the chart type dialog.

I have discovered that an Excel add-in called Scifinder Panorama, which is installed by default when Scifinder 2004 (published by the American Chemcial Society's Chemical Abstracts Service) is installed, conflicts with the ability to create user defined charts. When I uncheck Scifinder Panorama in the list of add-ins, the problem goes away.

This sounds like you need to speak to scifinder tech support to fix the bug in their program.

Have you checked for any FAQs on their tech support page? Perhaps they have a upgrade/bug fix...
