    moving text box (XP)

Odd problem. Someone asked me how to get a dotted line in the margin of a letter to indicate where to fold for a window envelope, so I said: textbox, no lines, and on Advanced Layout go for anchoring it, save as template. No problem - wrong! I discovered that if you do this and paste in a chunk of text it works, but a second chunk of text and the textbox migrates to the end of the document. Tell me I am not going daft in my old age... I attach the offending DOC with two chunks of random text added in.

Each floating object is anchored to a paragraph. You can see the anchor in Print Layout view if you select the object and if "Object anchors" is checked in the View tab of Tools | Options...
If the anchor moves to another page, the object will move with it.
I would put the text box in the page header - since it's floating, it can be anywhere on the page. Being in the header, it won't be influenced by the body text of the letter.

Thanks for that (and for being so quick!) - seems to solve the problem.
