Max value for visible cells only (2002 SP3)

I was wondering if there was a way to use the Max() formula to show only the max value on a range of visible cells with in a range of cells with some of them is hidden. The cells are not hidden using the auto filter but physically hidden. Only the rows are hidden too.

See <post:=539,300>post 539,300</post:> - the methods described there can easily be adapted for MAX instead of SUM.

Thanks, I ended up using the method listed in <post#=539355>post 539355</post#>.
