    Place Bar Customizing (Office 2003)

I want to edit my PlaceBar in the Open Dialog box. I took the advice in the WOPR FAQ and was able to add some of the folders I wanted. I am using this from home, where I am not on a network. Therefore, I thought I should eliminate and replace the standard folder,

You can hide My Network Places. See How to customize the My Places bar in both the Open and the Save As dialog boxes in Office 2003.

As far as I know, all Office apps use the same My Places bar, but you may have to restart to see the effects of a change.

If you hardly ever use Network Places, I think it's reasonably safe to remove it from that bar. You should always be able to get there by using the top drop-down to navigate up to the desktop level where is resides side-by-side with My Computer. (If you removed it from your desktop, then this may not be true. I'm not going to test that at the moment. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> )
