    Windows Explorer Icons (Windows XP)

Can anyone help me with this request from a user? Thank you - Melanie

When you open a subdirectory in windows xp, there's a default icon for at least images next to each file name. Then windows proceeds to (sometimes slowly) assign an icon from the related software to it... for example, my jpgs go from whatever the default icon is to the photoshop icon.

In a directory of hundreds of large files, this can get maddening. Is it possible to assign photoshop as the default app for the file type but keep whatever icon and not have that tedious process? Or better yet, not show the icons at all?

Are you saying that each file has its own individual icon, such as a preview of the image, as opposed to the Photoshop icon for all image types? If thumbnails are the selected view for the folder, that would cause a delay as Windows renders the thumbnail of each image. To get around that you would need to change views for the folder in question. Perhaps this post will help.
