    Add-Ins for Word (Word03)

In Excel, I have several add-ins that I use. Some I have gathered from the Lounge and others mostly from ASAP Utilities. It has some 300 separate utilities which most I will never use... but many are extremely useful and I do use some of them frequently. No real reason not to have it. It is free and to me, it's unobtrusive and causes no problems.

The question is: Is there a similar add-in set for Word that anyone might recommend? I am very fond of <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>.

One that comes to mind is the WOPR Utilities which have been around for as long as I've known Woody. Others places abound - http://www.word.mvps.org is another you should check out. You might also try a Google search for Microsoft Word Addins - I got 724,000 hits when I did it.

    Wendell, thanks for responding.

I was looking at the add-ins for Excel and I figured the one I used the most was a toolbar button that [when clicked], will move to the next open workbook. In fact, I have two side by side buttons, one that will advance to the next workbook and the other which goes to the previous workbook. I sometimes have a dozen Excel files open at once and I find that using this toolbar button is the quickest way to move about them. I can copy cells from one workbook, click my way to another notebok and then paste the data. Sure beats minmizing and arranging!

It would be cool to have a toolbar button in Word that would flip through the open documents... like changing channels with a remote.

Word has built-in commands for this, with keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+F6 (next window) and Shift+Ctrl+F6 (previous window). To add buttons for these commands to a toolbar:
    - Select Tools | Customize...
    - Activate the Commands tab of the Customize dialog.
    - Select Window in the list of Categories on the left hand side.
    - Select Next Window in the list of Commands on the right hand side, and drag it to a convenient place on a toolbar.
    - You can right-click the new toolbar button to change its display style (text, icon or both) etc.
    - Similar for the Previous Window command.

Try a Google search for WordToys. There are several excellent addins written by Romke Soldaat who has been developing extras for Word for as long as I remember. I use WordToys and Office Explorer.

    Happy New Year
