Click to Enlarge - how with FF1.5? (Firefox 1.5)

Lot's of websites have thumbnails of images and when they are clicked there's a link to a pop-up window or fresh page showing a larger image. Firefox 1.5 keeps asking me what action to take - it's trying to download the images. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know how to get "usual browser behaviour" back.

    Thanks,

    Chris (Hunt)

Just to clarify - it's asking you if you want to save or open the image(s) that you click on, instead of opening them in the browser window?

During this frantic holiday shopping season, I've clicked a lot of links to "show larger image" and never seen Firefox confused. Is the problem limited to a particular site or set of sites? Have you done anything special to your mouse buttons that might change their behavior? (That would include installing any extensions that change the behavior of the mouse buttons...)

Hi Mark, yes, that's what I mean. I was looking at this site:

    Thanks,

I'm getting the same behavior from the site you listed, and it doesn't happen elsewhere on the web with Firefox. Can you verify whether this is true for you also? If it's limited to the page you linked to, then I suspect it has to do with the way the page is coded, although I haven't tested this to be certain.

Something strange about that site. I posted the question on the "official" Firefox support forum: Fx 1.5 wanting to download JPEG (open with/save to disk)?

Thanks to you both for checking it out. Things seem to be normal on another site I tried. It was certainly unexpected behaviour.

    Best wishes,

    Chris

I don't know if they changed their coding, but when I click on an image at the site listed, it opens an enlarged picture in a separate tab. I do not get any kind of "what do you want to do" inquiry.

Still seems broken to me. I'm running Fx 1.5 on Windows XP SP2. I suspect we aren't going to solve this one without some inside information on the server configuration...

Re: Click to Enlarge - how with FF1.5? (Fx1.5)

I don't know if it helps or not or if it just adds to the confusion, but I have the same results as <!post=mbarron, 544,015>mbarron<!/post> - when I left click on the picture, it opens enlarged on a new tabbed page. But when I right click, I get my pop up menu which gives me the chance to "save link as", etc. Not sure what the difference is. I am using FF 1.5.

I can set Firefox to "force" links that want to open a new window to open in a tab instead, but that doesn't change the behavior for me. Are you using any extensions that relate to new windows/tabs??

I have Tab Mix Plus and I also have QuickTabPref Toggle which I suspect is the extension that is the reason for the way my links work. I've taken a "pic" of the settings. I've tried to make the file small enough but if it is unreadable, I'll try again. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

It would be an interesting test to see what happens in a "virgin" install of Firefox with all of the defaults. Unfortunately... I just blew a chance to do exactly that here at work, so it will have to wait until later.

I have a plain vanilla installation of FireFox 1.5, I didn't change anything except setting the home page.
When I click a thumbnail on the "problem" site, the enlarged image opens in a new FireFox window (not in a new tab). If I Ctrl+click, it opens in a new tab.

I have tried my usual profile, started Firefox in safe mode, and created a brand new profile to test the default settings. In all cases I get the download dialog.
