    Mail Merge (extra record) (Word 2003/SP 1)

    I am doing a mail merge from an Access Database into a form letter and am having trouble getting one extra record. I inserted the "Mail Merge" helper that you can use from previous versions of Word as I like that one better than Word 2003. It seems to only happen when I use the old helper. If I use the Word 2003 helper on the right side of the screen, I don't get the extra record. For example, I do a mail merge with 2 criteria. One of the criteria is date specific and the other is a yes/no field. Whichever fields have yes get merged. If I used the old helper, I get one record from the previous date criteria. Any ideas?

    Carefully check the window where you specify the criteria. Probably something from the old criteria was left behind.

    Re: Mail Merge (extra record) (Word 2003/SP 1)

    I checked that window and it only had those 2 options. I clicked on the clear all and started over and still got the same thing (1 record from the previous date and then the records I want). I did a little checking on the code and am including it here. I am not proficient in code at all, so maybe someone can help me. Sub BRF()
    '
    ' BRF Macro
    ' Macro recorded 9/28/05 by Weldon Schultz
    '
    ChangeFileOpenDirectory _
    "Cocuments and SettingsWeldon SchultzMy DocumentsWord DocumentsPrisoners"
    Documents.Open FileName:="Bible Request Form 82505.doc", ConfirmConversions:=True, ReadOnly:=False, AddToRecentFiles:=True, _
    PasswordDocument:="", PasswordTemplate:="", Revert:=False, _
    WritePasswordDocument:="", WritePasswordTemplate:="", Format:= _
    wdOpenFormatAuto, XMLTransform:=""
    ActiveDocument.MailMerge.MainDocumentType = wdFormLetters
    ActiveDocument.MailMerge.OpenDataSource Name:= _
    "P:gtGT access dataGospelTractSociety.mdb", ConfirmConversions:=False, _
    ReadOnly:=False, LinkToSource:=True, AddToRecentFiles:=True, _
    PasswordDocument:="", PasswordTemplate:="", WritePasswordDocument:="", _
    WritePasswordTemplate:="", Revert:=False, Format:=wdOpenFormatAuto, _
    Connection:= _
    "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Password="""";Us er ID=Admin;Data Source=P:gtGT access dataGospelTractSociety.mdb;Mode=Read;Extended Properties="""";Jet OLEDB:System database="""";Jet OLEDB:Registry Path="""";Jet OLEDBatabase Password="""";Jet OLEDB:Engine Typ" _
    , SQLStatement:="SELECT * FROM `tblPrisons`", SQLStatement1:="", SubType _
    :=wdMergeSubTypeAccess
    ActiveDocument.MailMerge.DataSource.QueryString = _
    "SELECT * FROM `tblPrisons` WHERE `Date Received` = #9/28/05# And `BRF` = 'y' " _
    & ""
    End Sub

    I noticed after clearing the screen and saving it, then starting over, it pulled 1 record from the above date, then the records I need. Is there some way I can omit the last statement of the above code? On another mail merge document that didn't have the above code in, I had to always connect to the data source every time I opened the mail merge document.

    Sorry, I don't know what's happening. I'd recommend getting used to the new Mail Merge task pane...

    That's what I was afraid of. Merci!
