    ftp upload (Firefox 1.5)

I'm a complete newbie as far as uploading a file to a client's site is concerned. I cannot manage it with Firefox (connects to site OK, but just bare page: "Index for ...." etc. How do I get the folder on my machine containing the file to show so I can drag and drop (presumably) to upload). Same applies to IE. I have also tried an ftp client (SmartFTP) - this refuses to connect to the client's ftp site at all. I'd be grateful for any pointers.

I'm no browser expert, but I don't believe that viewing an FTP URL with a browser will allow uploading to that address, even if it's password protected and you have the credentials. Methinks you're far better off going back to the FTP client software to see if you missed entering the correct address, userid AND password. IMO that's the most practical way to do it. Some HTML editing software also has FTP transfer capability but there also you will need the proper credentials listed above. Let us know how you're making out with a retry.

Thanks for your kind help Big Al. I did manage it in the end using IE. Had to copy the file separately from My Docs using Ctrl C, then pasted into the folder visible on the ftp site.

All the best - have a good festive season
