Laser Optical/ Wireless Mouse & Keyboard

    Laser KBMS-USBW
    XP Pro 2002 SP2

Just playing with my premature Xmas present, but having some problems. I believe I've installed the correct drivers from the CD supplied. I have tried to delete all mouse & KB drivers, except for the new ones. I have tried deleting the lot, then rebooting several times and allowing plug 'n pray to detect new hardware on the USB, having unplugged the old PS/2 mouse & KB.

What's happening is that the KB does become enabled, albeit a bit sluggish/ flakey in response, but the mouse won't give any indication of life. I think its batteries are properly charged, according to the LED on the receiver; even though the book says to charge for 15 hrs. I've also synchronized the linkage between the devices, as instructed.

I'm afraid I can't find any resources on the web either. Anyone have some troubleshooting experience in this area?

    thanks

You did not mention the brand or model. I just purchased a Logitech laser MX1000 wireless mouse. I left the CD in the box and went directly to the Logitech website and downloaded v2.57 as the CD contained v1.41. This mouse is not bluetooth as I originally wanted due to all the complaints about sluggish response from the bluetooth KB and mice. You might have that issue. Another possibility that helped some bluetooth users was to download a fix from the Logitech website. A third suggestion was to use the Windows built in bluetooth with the new fixes from MS and not install the Logitech bluetooth drivers. A full charge on new rechargeable batteries does make a difference. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your thoughts on those issues. The make/ model is actually "Laser KBMS-USBW", as at the top of the OP. I'm afraid I have no more info on it. Their website entry at http://www.laserco.com.au/index.htm?/compu...kbms-ps2com.htm is pretty useless. The driver folders on CD are named MK0***C, but I'm afraid that gives me no clues either.

The drivers I found at the Laser website are "mk0326c" . If new drivers do not clear up your complaints I would return it and buy a different brand.

Well, Santa came good (my brother-in-law actually). I told him how I followed the instructions to get the mouse, keyboard and receiver "talking together". From the manual:

    1. Press the connect button on the bottom of the keyboard.
    2. Press the connect button on front of the receiver.
    3. Press the connect button on the bottom of the mouse.

He told me that with his hardware, the "connections" were done independently. In other words, after 2., wait for the connection to establish, then go to 3. then repeat 2 and again wait. Tried his method and BINGO! Working as advertised, first time. I wonder how many returns the company has had as a result of failing to proof read their errroneous documentation?

Re: Laser Optical/ Wireless Mouse & Keyboard

    Problem revisited...

I got a refund on the unit I bought, then later saw one (at a different store) working on a XP-SP2 machine. At 2/3 the price I paid originally, I couldn't resist trying again. So the plot thickens...

As before, the keyboard connects up no problems. But now, the mouse can be connected but only the buttons and wheel function - no cursor movement. The "connection" process to the receiver also doesn't seem able to complete. The light is meant to flash for about 30 secs, then glow continuously. It just continues to flash. I'm looking for ideas before I return yet another one.

BTW, the shop assures me nobody has ever had a problem with that model... but that line might be "standard" with all purchases. <img src=/S/liar.gif border=0 alt=liar width=25 height=22>

Are you sure you don't have anything that would interfere with the signal between the mouse & receiver? Have you tried changing the position of the receiver?

    Hey Joe

I'll keep you posted on this. I tried moving the receiver, then reconnecting the USB. Now, a hardware fault seems to have "appeared", with the mouse not powering up at all. <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23> So it's back to the shop for a 3rd (and final) attempt.
