    reference book (Word03)

Does anyone know of a good reference book on Word fields? Doesn't have to be directed at 2003 version. What have you used and got the most help with?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.

Although I'm often critical about the Office help files, I think the help on fields in Word is generally fine. The purpose of most fields is explained clearly, with useful examples.
More or less the same help can be found at Microsoft Office Assistance: Field Reference.
Also see Microsoft Office Assistance: Using Fields.

You may also find Using Fields in Microsoft Word - a Tutorial in the Intermediate Users' Guide to Microsoft Word, but it has not been kept up-to-date, some of the links don't work any more.

    Hi Fay,

You might also like to check out my Date Calc 'tutorial', in <post#=249902>post 249902</post#> and my Field Maths 'tutorial', in <post#=365442>post 365442</post#>.

Although neither of these is cast in the frame of a general-purpose tutorial, they do show some of the tings that can be achieved with fields.

    Cheers
