    String search (MSO2003 wxPhE)

    We paste a Profit & Loss Account to a worksheet. Tis consists og text in Col A and numbers in Col B. We need to extract the figure in col B that is placed opposite (always the same) the text string " Dividends paid"
    The main problem seems be that the text headings in Col A are not in any order and have blank rows too. Is there a way of finding this string and returning the value please?

    Try this formula:
    <pre>=VLOOKUP(" Dividends paid",A:B,2,FALSE)
    </pre>

    Instead of A:B, you can also use A1:B100 or something similar.
