Provided you have enabled Hibernation (Start -> Control Panel -> Power options -> Hibernate then click on the [/i]Enable hibernation[/i] tick-box), you can cause your PC to hibernate by running
%windir%system32rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll, SetSuspendState

but I haven't come across a command-line way of returning from hibernation. Perhaps someone else has?

You might be able to avoid Task Scheduler by looking into one of the Power Schemes... See here.

Would you clarify or correct, please? I was attempting to check your link to make it clickable but it seems to be invalid. The closest I can come so far is a crossword puzzle site. Thanks...

Al, I think it should be http://www.lifsoft.com/ and the software is called Auto Power-on & Shut-down 1.54.

Aha, thank you kind sir! Whilst Googling, I also came across this one, which seems to be priced in the same bracket: Auto Shutdown - Use Auto shutdown wizard to Auto shutdowm, Auto Logoff or Auto Restart
