    Finding missing field (Access03)

Don't know why I am working at this time of night on Christmas Eve, except I got access to the internet.

I went to compact and repair my database. I am told the "description field" is missing. I don't remember having ever creating one. So I manually went through each form and report looking for missing source connections. Bottom line I can't find the problem.

What is the best approach to seeking out the problem?

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas (Which ever one you prefer)

    Thank you.

    Fay

    If it's missing, it figures that it's hard to find <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

If you have a recent backup that does not exhibit this problem, it might be best to go back to that. Otherwise, you could try the following:

    1) Create a blank new database and try to import all database objects from the problem database. If you succeed, you may be in luck; use the new database (but keep the old one for a while just in case). If Access balks at one of the database objects, that object is probably the cause of the problem.

    or

    2) Make a copy of the database. Remove database objects one by one from the copy. Compact the database after each removal. When the error doesn't occur any more, the object you last removed was the cause of the problem.

Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas to you too!

Thanks. I think I will just not work anymore on it and try the one at work on Tuesday. Fay
