Categories Lost When Moving E-mail (Outlook 2003 SP2)

I categorize all e-mail rather than folder it. To my horror, I learned that when I move e-mail from one IMAP folder to another, I lose all of my categories. Is there anyway to prevent this or do I need to give up on categories?

By move you mean simply copying it from one folder to another and deleting the original, rather than forwarding/resending? I'm surprised that any message fields are deleted or cleared in that process. Sounds like a bug.

I use CTRL+SHIFT+V and select the IMAP folder I want it moved to. Because I use IMAP, it really copies the message to the new folder and strikes out the message in the inbox. Every now and then I purge the deleted messages in my inbox.
