    Can't import e-mail addresses into Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6714 SP3)

I am trying (like mad) to import e-mail addresses into the "E-mail" and "E-mail 2" fields of Outlook 2002. What I get as a result in those fields is only the first character of the e-mail address. So apparently the Outlook converter is finding the right source material, but chopping off after the first character is converted into Outlook. So, for example, if my source data is BobChap@msn.com, I get "B" in the "E-mail" field.

When my real data didn't work, I tried a test set of data, and got the same result, so it seems to be an Outlook or Converter problem.

Does anyone have a clue as to what to try?

    Thanks for any help

What is the source file type and are you importing these "new" or trying to get the data into existing records?

The source is an Excel file, and i'm bringing in entirely new contacts.

Did you check the Excel file and make sure ALL data is there?

I at one time, I had a export that did NOT include ANY email address.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Yup, all the data is there.

interestingly, when I have added the e-mail addresses manually, and then exported the Contacts folder, none of the e-mail addresses were exported, but everything else was!!! Gremlins??

Check your custom field mapping to see whether anything is wrong there. You can set it up manually if necessary. I tested with the attached file. At first Outlook didn't intend to bring over any of the email data, so I was forced to manually map the fields across. At that point, no problems.
