Display icons lurking in EXEs and DLLs

Ages and ages ago I had a program which would search through all the usual suspects (EXEs and DLLs) on one's hard disk for icons which could be used on desktop shortcuts. I can't find it any more, nor by searching the Lounge, or Googling rapidly.

Can anyone point me at their pet program that does this ly?

    Thanks!

The one I've used (if you want to create a dump of all the icon resources on your HD) is IconShop.
The version I have is ware, and I think current version is also.

You'll find some other freebies at Freeware Home - Desktop ... Cosmetic Tools ... Cursor-Icon Editors.

    Others to look at:
    Icon Snatcher
    Resource Hacker

Before I bought Stardock's "Object Desktop" which has the excellent "IconPackager" program with its "Icon Explorer" utility, I used to use this free program. From what I remember, it worked very well and it is : Icon Snatcher.

Thanks, everyone. Icon Snatcher seems to be the one I was thinking of, but I will try the others, too!

    Icon Studio

A late addition - I use Icon Studio, which can create/edit icons, and extract them from EXEs and DLLs, and is of course . It's a very handy piece of kit, with only a couple of drawbacks:

An annoying popup ad appears when closing the app
It doesn't search for EXEs/DLLs that contain icons - it expects you to know which EXEs/DLLs contain icons and guide it to them.[/list]So probably a poor alternative to those already mentioned, but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case!
