    Copy paragraph mark (Word 2002)

Hi All - hope ALL are recovery nicely from holiday festivities....................

I used to be able (in Word 97 and I THOUGHT in Word 2002) to copy a paragraph mark and then paste it before the existing para mark in a different para and have the formatting of the pasted mark be applied.

I prefer that method to Format Painter, but for some reason in Word 2002 I now can't do it. Is this possible in Word 2002, and I mis-remembering that I used to be able to do it in Word 2002? I can't think of any Add-ins, or anything, that I added/changed that would prevent this from happening.

    Any ideas gratefully received.

Re: Copy paragraph mark (Word 2002)

You can copy and paste paragraph formatting as follows:
    - Click in the "source" paragraph.
    - Press Shift+Ctrl+C to copy the paragraph formatting.
    - Click in the "target" paragraph.
    - Press Shift+Ctrl+V to paste the paragraph formatting.

The method you describe works for me in Word 2002 SP-3, but I still have to delete the original paragraph mark after pasting one in front of it.

If you get an additional paragraph mark, maybe "Tools > Options > Edit > Typing replaces selection" isn't checked?
If pasting the paragraph mark doesn't change the (font) formatting, you may have manual font formatting applied on top of the style?
If pasting the paragraph mark doesn't seem to change the style, maybe you have Char styles applied (linked styles = paragraph styles used as character styles)?
