add hand icon to link (Excel 2003)

I know I've done this before but how did I do it? I have a form with a label which has the text of a URL. When I run the form I want the icon to change to the typical 'white hand with index finger extended'. I can't find that dang .ico file anywhere. Where'd he go? How do I capture him? I searched my computer and used a few ico extractor tools but nothing.

I thought it'd be easy to find that little guy on line but nothing so far. Any ideas?

Thnx,
Deb

Presumably, there's a good reason that you aren't using the standard Hyperlink functionality? That automatically delivers the required hand icon. HTH

How do you do that on a form though? I used a label to show the URL, formatted the text to look more link-like (blue underlined). I know I've done this before on a form but that part of the memory bank has been reformatted it seems.

You select mousepointer as custom, then choose a mouseicon for the mouseicon property.

Yes, I did that but don't have the custom hand icon. That's what I'm trying to find, that hand.ico (or whatever it's called) file.

Very sorry. Obviously, I've been doing far too much Access lately. A disguised TextBox can't offer that functionality in Excel. The cursor image also doesn't seem to be anywhere in the FaceIDs available for Excel - nor (as you say) in any of the more likely places. None of the files in System32 with >5 icons have it - although icon 6 in main.cpl has a version of the hand (but with a piece of A4 as a background). As you also know, the Excel interface doesn't seem to believe that *.cpl files have icons! Wish I could do more...

It seems ridiculous that you can't tell VB(A) to use the entire current default pointer set. I guess the MousePointer choices were set more than 10 years ago and never updated. Actually, when I look at the .cur files in c:windowscursors, I don't see any "finger" cursors. There must be something unusual about those, perhaps related to IE...

In our threads on extracting icons from other files, you might find a tool that will extract cursors to .ico format. And here's an impertinent suggestion for that special class of users: Windows Marketplace: The Finger.

That little gem, I found that a few months back and put it on my colleagues PC....I sat there sniggering away as it flashed at him and swore at the PC....what did he do? Called IT helpdesk stating he had a virus.....who got assigned the call (even though it has nothing to do with me) but myself, I let him wait a couple of hours until I "fixed" it when he was out to lunch.

Oh that's really GOOD, don't even tempt me with that idea

Actually your link did give me an idea and I found some 'hand' images that I can now convert to .ico files and then point my form label to use that image. Jeessh, a lot of work just for such a small detail (the folks I'm doing this project for are getting way too picky, and I'm being way too nice - it's not a web page I'm making, I can't make it look exactly like a web page)
