Arggh! That's bad news, I've been relying on Inoculate at home since Software Finds put me onto it. What are they charging or appearing to threaten to charge? If the product continues to be as good, and the charge is nominal, I'll buy.

What alternatives do you recommend?

Don't worry. CIA will continue to support Inoculate It and allow repeated upgrades for registered users for as long as you have it on your system. For freeware this is as about as generous as it gets.

It is highly unusual for someone to continue unlimited free support for a discontinued freeware, but I'll take it as long as they keep it up.

As a registered user of IPE, I received the attached email message touting their upgraded (?) commercial release for their AV and other security suite. It looks interesting, and at a pretty reasonable price.

Good to hear that support will continue for a while. Interestingly I don't think I saw -any- upgrade offers via e-mail. I'll have to check the site out sometime.

Do you think you could make a special post on your "Special Security Kit" that we could Star and send people to when they ask about security? I was looking for it the other day and it wasn't easy...

Sure. I'll get on it today. It needs a bit of research/updating as InoculateIt is no longer available as freeware, having been replaced by a 60-day trial version of something similar. There are a couple of good alternatives though.
