reports (2000)

Edited by HansV to improve layout

Hi, I am somehat rusy on reports, have a query that has for instance car model, eg ford, vauxhall, a field that says type, saloon, hatch, then a further field for colour say blue and red. I need to produce an output for report to show

model type colour
    vauxhall saloon 2 blue 1
    red 2

    Is this possible?

    Thanks Darren.

Are the numbers record counts? If so, are 1 and 2 the number of blue and red vauxhalls or of blue and red vauxhall saloons? If the latter, why don't the numbers add up?

Sorry Hans, it should read 1 red 1 blue, so there are 2 saloons of which 1 is red and 1 is blue.

    Thanks

I don't think a layout exactly like the one in your post can be created easily.

You can group the report by model, type and colour, and use a text box with control source =Count(*) in each of the group headers (or footers) to display the record count. You set grouping levels in the Sorting and Grouping window.
