Disable Add or Remove Buttons on toolbar (Access 2

We have just upgraded an application from Access 97 to Access 2002, and there is a minor issue with some custom toolbars.

On the right-hand end of each toolbar is a narrow drop-down arrow, which when clicked, gives the user the option to Add Or Remove Buttons. We do not want he users to be able to see this, but I cannot find a way to hide it. All the toolbar properties are unchecked, as are the startup options.

Does anyone have a solution to this ?

    Usual thanks for your help

    Nick

Re: Disable Add or Remove Buttons on toolbar (Acce

I don't think you can stop the option appearing, but if you have the "Allow Toolbar/Menu changes" box unchecked in Tools | Startup, it will be disabled (greyed-out). So although the users will see the option, they won't be able to execute it.

If at first you do succeed, you've probably missed something.

I don't think you can hide that button, but if you clear the check box "Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes" in Tools | Startup..., the user won't be able to do anything with it.

Thanks for the answers Hans and Waggers.

I had a feeling it could not be removed - just one of those nice little features that Microsoft likes to add :-)

If it is enough of a concern, you might consider using an ActiveX control instead of a standard toolbar. DBI Technologies, Inc. has several that might meet your needs - we use their ctToolBar.ocx control in some of our applications.

Thanks for that link. I have a feeling our users may just have to live with this one.
