    Start/All_Programs Listings (WinXP-HE)

Can anyone tell me how XP determines what programs to list in the panel that appears when you click Start/All_Programs? A number of my apps have disappeared from this list but can be found after searching diligently through the C drive. How can I put them in the list so that when I look in the All_Programs location they will appear. Putting icons on the desktop creates too much clutter.

    TIA

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that some of your programs have "disappeared" from your Start>AllPrograms Menu. Were they always there, or did they disappear all at once or gradually over time ??? More information about which programs would be helpful.

Some small utilities ar just .exe file that are placed on your C drive and not in the programs menu, but most programs put a listing in the Programs menu unless you are given the option not to when you install a program. You can, however, place shortcuts to the "missing" programs in the Start>All Programs menu rather than on the desktop by simply right-clicking dragging and dropping the .exe file from where it's located on the C drive to the start menu. Bob,

Doc told you how to get programs onto the menu.

Technically, the program listed in the All Programs are those found in the Cocuments and SettingsFredStart MenuPrograms folder. "Fred" in this case is me, a specific user that logged in. These are added to the programs found under Cocuments and SettingsAll UsersStart MenuPrograms as I understand it.

    HTH

    Fred
