Acronis True Image 9 build 2337 update

Acronis has released an update for True Image 9.0 . . . Build 2337. As most of you know, the previous build had an installation problem which was supposed to be fixed in the next update (this one). However, it didn't happen. From what I've read, this latest build WILL install over the top of the last build but not over anything previous (older). I passed on the last one due to this "bug" but decided to go ahead and install 2337. So, I uninstalled True Image and then installed 2337 which required both my version 9.0 and version 8.0 serials due to the fact that these were "Upgrades" for me.

On a more positive note..... installation was flawless, created a new Boot Disk on my trusty Ultra Hi-Speed CD-RW disc and created an incremental backup image to my designated partition on my external USB 2.0 HDD. I found that the time required to create the backup image was noticeably less (faster) than my previous build 2302. Everything checked out fine and I'm typically happy with this fine product.

Jeff,
I have the upgrade but haven't installed it yet. I DO have the last build installed so I am going to just upgrade over the old one.
Will report back with results.

Jeff,
i just ran the latest upgrade build over the last installed build and it appears to be fine. I only checked a few basic things and haven't yet created a new Image but should do that soon.
Otherwise, looks OK.

Re: Acronis True Image 9 build 2337 update

Bob,

From what I have read, this new build WILL install fine over Build 2323 . . . but not over anything prior to Build 2323, e.g., build 2302.

There's a nice post on what works and what doesn't work on the True Image forum here: TI 9.0 Build 2337 - What Works and What Doesn't.

Most of the problems people report with True Image are system specific as I have rarely if ever encountered them on either of my two machines. I do think that TI works marvelously well on 90%+ of the 'puters it is installed on and a small minority encounter issues.

Hi jeff,
Yes, I just finished an all drives Image with good time and compression.
I have to be in that 90%, thank goodness. Never had any major problems with this app. I give it a 5 star rating.

Re: Acronis True Image 9 build 2337 update

Thanks for the update, Jeff. I too am still running 2302 so I guess I'll have to jump through the installation hoops also.

By the way, since this thread will probably be read by users of other Acronis products, I also have their Disk Director Suite and I saw that it also has a more recent build than what I'm using. That product is now at Version 10.0, Build 2089. I still don't see anything in that User Guide about converting FATxx to NTFS, so I don't think it's been included yet.

Re: Acronis True Image 9 build 2337 update

I hate to beat a dead horse, but just in case any others are encountering this situation, I thought I'd write. I too had downloaded and installed the latest build of TI (2337) and without checking the Help/About screen, have used it both from within Windows and from the boot CD. Strangely enough, this afternoon I happened to check the Help/About screen and noticed that it still said I was running Build 2302. Confusing to say the least, since I've used the boot CD which does report itself as 2337.

Just for the of it I uninstalled TI and then re-installed Build 2337 which now reports itself at the correct level. The only reason I went through all this is that I'm getting ready to make another weekly backup tonite.

Dunno, Doc..... I just checked the "Help/About" and it correctly says it is build 2337. When I installed this update, I first uninstalled the previous version, after finding out that the installation glitch wasn't resolved with this build either and having skipped the update immediately previous to this one. Perhaps that is why I am not experiencing what you did?

I just installed this version but am unable to create an image. There is no option in the menu? How do you go about creating an image?

Just go to the first item on the menu, "backup a drive".
It will ask to to either create an entire back up ( image ) or just back up files, etc.
Follow the prompts to do an entire disk back up.

Thanks you all. It's weird because once I saw a screen shot (on some web pages) that showed create image icon. Anyway, thanks again.

Jay,
That was probably from a much earlier version before they offered the ability to backup individual files andor images.
