Adminstering Exchange 2003 'remotely'

Please could someone tell me:
a) where I can get the most up-to-date version of Exchange System Manager from, to install on my XP Pro workstation? Will 'something' from one of the original CDs be adequate?
do I need anything else with which to administer Exchange Server 2003?

I have already got the latest adminpak.msi for Windows Server 2003 installed, and my workstation runs ADUC fine!

Thanks

John

PS As you can guess, what I know about Exchange could be written on a pea!

This page contains a list of things you need to do to install Exchange System Manager on an XP machine: http://www.petri.co.il/administer_exchange...p_2000_2003.htm

I'm trying to remember for sure, but I think that to update or install Exchange System Manager for Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2, you download Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 from Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...2/download.mspx) and run the install, selecting on the management tools and not the server to install. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! I've done a few other things since I did this on my server/workstation <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Microsoft also has a KB article on installing Exchange System Manager on XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;834121
It doesn't mention Exchange Service Pack 2 though, which is the "most up-to-date version." I do know that if you get the Exchange 2003 SP2 ESM installed, you should still be able to use it to administer Exchange 2003 at any service pack level (including none), and Exchange 2000; the features that are unavailable in the older versions are just greyed out.

For all Exchange-related downloads at Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...03/default.mspx

Thank you kindly, Sir!

I will investigate the links when I'm at work... I already have SP2 downloaded to my Software directory, and installed on the Exchange server.

Just to close this off, I worked mainly from the Petri article, and very good it was, too, and everything worked as described once I had found the correct Exchange Server 2003 CD (out of about five or six)!

Thanks again.
