    Encrypting a SSN (2000)

How's the best way to handle a social security number in my database however encrypting all of the SSN except for the last 4 digits?

Access doesn't offer any sort of field encryption process as a native capability. You will either need to write your own encryption routine for the first 5 digits, or use one of the commercial products that will work with Access. I would split the SSN into a 5 digit fields and a 4 digit field. Hope this helps.
