    Word crashing - faulting application Winword.exe (Word 2002 /XP SP3)

We had Office XP (with the Document Management System - Hummingbird DMS) running on either Windows NT4.0 or Windows2000.

Recently we upgraded our O/S to Windows XP.

Since upgrading to Windows XP, I have experienced this issue. When Im saving in Word or Excel will crash or hang. I dont know if this issue is a symptom of the DMS playing up since the upgrade, or if its Word /Office related.

However poking around on my pc I discovered the following Windows Error Reporting:
Date & time. Type. Details = Microsoft Office 10 Faulting application winword.exe, version 10.0.6764.0, faulting module vbe6.dll, version 6.4.99.69, fault address 0x000....
Date & time. Type. Details = Microsoft Office 10 Faulting application winword.exe, version 10.0.6764.0, faulting module winword.exe , version 10.0.6764.0, fault address 0x000....

has anyone any ideas on how i can resolve this. is it just a corrupt .dll that needs to be upgraded?
    many thanks

Re: Word crashing - faulting application Winword.e

Microsoft crash reporting definitely is difficult to interpret...

I think you are right to be suspicious of the DMS interface, or other template/COM add-ins. There are likely to be differences between the NT and XP versions, so if you did an "install over," possibly there is an unhealthy mix of files and an uninstall/reinstall might help?
