Closing a disc session (Windows XP Home)

Is there any way to drag and drop a file onto a CD using Explorer, and then close the disc so nothing else can be added?

Does the disc not get closed automatically when you select 'Write these files to the CD'?

Re: Closing a disc session (Windows XP Home)

I've been Googling around for quite some time now and can't find the answer, if there is one! I can find other examples like this one: How to Burn/Write CDs in Windows XP which says:

...Note: Windows XP CD writing writes multisession CDs and doesn't close the CD...

Personally, I'd recommend using a third-party program like Nero.

As Leif said, the wizard closes the session after you select "Write these files to CD" and it burns the CD. No further action by you is required to close the session.

No, unfortunately it doesn't. I thought it did too, but then I put the CD back in the CD drive after copying one file to it, and was able to drag another file over to it and burn it Both files now appear on the CD.

The session is closed. Howver, the CD is not finalized. That is why you can burn another session later.

True, the session is closed, but the CD is not finalized. After poring through Microsoft's support forums I don't think XP supports finalizing a disk.

    Are these CD-Rs or CD-RWs?
