    Web DB (2000 SR-1)

Does anyone have words of wisdom re: putting a databse online for a school registration, e.g.? Is Access a reasonable way to go, or would I be better off using something else. I am not terribly experienced with web design.

    Hi There

    OK you asked for opinion <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I am a school governor at my kids school and have also just completed the school website.

The first thing that popped into my head was " I hope that person doesn't go down that route". I personally do not think having an Access database running a website a very good idea as there are issues behind security and as you admit you are not very experienced in web design.

As this is a school registration database and it is online I am a bit concerned that the determined hacker could and would be able to see some potentially very sensitive information about children that I as a father and a governor would not like to have available on the web. However, if this is going to be an intranet application I would feel decidedly happier.

Thanks for your insight--I was thinking only technically and you raise an important point regarding security that had not occurred to me yet. Thankfully, we are very early in our planning process!
    Thanks again!
