Outlook 2002 and IMAP Response Time

I have noticed a very annoying "feature" of Outlook 2002, Enterprise Edition. I use it to connect to an IMAP mail server at work. My workstation is Windows 2000 Pro, Service Pack 2. This was an upgrade from Office 2000 to Office XP.

When the Send/Receive function kicks in, it takes forever. I have left my workstation alone, and I come back and it still takes forever. The percentage increase is climbing slowly, then it sometimes seems to hang. I have also had Outlook just hang on me during this operation.

Anyone have any clues as to why Send/Receive takes so much time? Is it an IMAP configuration or is it a problem with the way Outlook does IMAP? Has anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Outlook 2002 and IMAP Response Time

check for updates at http://office.microsoft.com they released some last week that address slow connection problems, but i'm not sure if any are related to IMAP or not.

if none of the updates apply to this, try creating a new profile and see if that helps.

FWIW: most problems users are experiencing seem to be related to upgrading over outlook 2000.
