    Re: Freeanswers.com

The domain is still there but it doesn't have anything to do with Windows that I can tell. Since I don't recall the "place" maybe they've changed their name and it'll take you some Googling to find 'em or, they may have passed on into the mist of never-never-land... I tried a wildcard whois on just the "answers" part and there's way too many to even look through.

I went away from the computer for awhile and this phrase popped into my head! Is this by chance the place you were thinking of?

I vaguely remember a site called FreeAnswers.com that had lots of good PC related stuff, but that was some years ago and I no longer have a pointer to it.

    Re: Freeanswers.com

I used to use Freeanswers.com a lot to search the Microsoft KnowledgeBase, but the site was discontinued late in 2003 or early in 2004. Searching the MSKB directly was very slow then, and Freeanswers was fast. Fortunately, searching the MSKB is much faster nowadays, so there is less need for a site like Freeanswers.

Also, an advanced Google search with support.microsoft.com entered as the domain will yield different and sometimes better results than searching the MS KB directly.

    I've been doing just that ever since Unkamunka's <!post=StarPost here,411,859>StarPost here<!/post>. Works a treat!
